Artist's Statement: It is my desire to employ different materials, scale and processes in my work and are the evidence of an artist always taking risks  searching for that connection , that one "true" moment between myself ,  subject and you the viewer.  The openness , immediacy and sensitivity of my hand while simultaneously rendering a likeness creates complex fluid personages that reflect the emotional and psychological complexity common to each of us, flawed, compassionate, vulnerable and that which makes us most human.

Artist's Statement: My images explore interpretations of every day events and are inspired by an internal response to an emotion, a memory or a life experience. My paintings are unique and compelling, some deep and mysterious while others are light and whimsical. I enjoy thinking outside the box and exploring more innovative and unique ways to express my creative spirit. I am very much an intuitive painter, painting from the heart and soul, allowing the image to dictate the direction it chooses to evolve, using multiple layers of acrylic medium infused with richness in value contrast, embellished with gestural calligraphy and designed to engage the viewer and encourage closer observation and personal interpretation.

Artist's Statement: it was late summer at the farm just before the fall equinox. The light was soft and golden shining in on my old cookstove, which I actually used to heat a section of my home (including my studio) and also cooked on it for 22 years.

Artist's Statement: I tried to capture the mood and the moment for this painting. The feeling of sunrise got lost in the shadows of the mist. I like to work with monochrome palette and in this painting I used browns and blues to get the monochrome feeling.

Artist's Statement: In my paintings, I like to capture the silent poetry in landscape. Spring is the weather of optimism in Canada; days start getting longer, and the sun starts climbing higher and brighter! In this work I tried to capture the same feeling I experienced when I found myself standing under the shadows cast by the huge grain elevator at Holdfast, Saskatchewan, a few years ago.

Artist's Statement: A gnarled root that clings to the rocky cliff reflects the afternoon golden light, with its arms out like a Buddha. An ancient root that still grows, life still within the old twisted wood. Pattern, light and colour inspires me to capture these old forest trees.

Artist's Statement: The sibyls were prophetesses or oracles in Ancient Greece that go back to eleventh century BC. During the sitting, Phyllis recalled a full rich life at almost 90 within a context of melancholy and a humble wisdom I don’t think she was aware of. In speaking with her afterwards, she did share that the telling of her stories in our safe sitting space provided some unexpected revelations. Memories are peoples’ evolving life stories that define them. Could we resolve past dystonic traits through the lens of lived experience and wisdom? I believe Phyllis has something to say about that…

Artist's Statement: Painting for me is a lot of things, but simply, overall, it is the journey, is a spiritual process connecting me to the world, is meditative – especially when it comes to ‘water’. Exploring it through the very reflections that outline its movement. The reflected sky above reaching down, the bottom, sand, rocks and grasses all reaching up towards the surface, the changing colours of the forest edges trying to define, shape and contain it. I end up painting everything but the very thing I seek to paint
