CA$1,100.00

State/Province: Ontario
Country: Canada

Dimensions: 19 x 14 x 1.5
Artist's Statement: I have long had a love affair with transparent watercolour. The magic of building up colour while maintaining luminosity thrills me, and this slow layering process, combined with detailed drawing, is my meditation. I am interested in exploring the play of sunlight and the patterns it creates in everyday life. By focusing on capturing the transient sunshine, particularly in early morning or late afternoon, compelling compositions are found and I am inspired to pay tribute to the fleeting moments we all see, but pass by so quickly.

Her work as a graphic designer gives her a clear eye for form and content. The possibilities and complexities of colour, design, and the power of elemental imagery infuse her work. She is intrigued by shapes and patterns and how they relate to each other in their natural habitat. “I like to play with shapes, design, patterns and colour. My paintings end up as landscapes but they begin their process as colours and shapes that are pleasing to me in a dynamic composition. "

A CHEERFULNESS OF CHINA
Margaret Nachshen
CA$2,000.00

State/Province: Quebec
Country: Canada

Dimensions: 22 x 30
Artist's Statement: I've always loved the colour palette of this crockery which is made in Stoke-on-Trent in England. I've often visited this pottery and I'm always bowled over by the vibrancy of their hues. It seem as though one could use paint straight from the tube to match these tints, but no, the reality is a far more nuanced process of careful colour mixing. This painting is the 5th in a series of dinnerware.
